Under the Department are five divisions: Animal Management, Resource Recovery, Stormwater Management, Strategic Services and Sustainability.
Aiding the Department is the Climate Change Commission.
The Commission developed a County Climate Action Plan to prepare for regional climate change impacts, and has set climate stabilization goals. The Commission also reviewed the 2012 Draft Plan, and researched best practices for greenhouse gas emission reductions, adaptation, and resiliency at the federal, state and local levels. In addition, the Commission is to update the County’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory, and identify a plan of action for implementation of climate adaptation.
The Commission submitted an interim report by January 31, 2021 and will submit a final report by September 30, 2021.
